Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Tostada Shells (I usually get the Guerrero bag of them)
  • Your favorite salsa (or two)
  • Ground Meat (I usually do turkey) :: you can also buy pre-seasoned ground taco meat
  • Taco Seasoning (if you didn’t get the pre-seasoned meat)
  • Shredded Lettuce
  • Shredded Cheese (I get the Mexican mix)
  • Tomato
  • Black Beans
  • Taco Bell Mild Sauce (my husband’s favorite!)

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Wash the bag of lettuce (even though it says it’s washed, I still wash it myself). Wash the tomato. Thaw the meat if you need to. Slice your tomato into round slices.
  • Heat oil in pan and cook the meat and add seasoning if you need to. Once cooked through and ready, heat the tostada shells to your liking. I’ve used the oven and microwave before for this. They only need a little heating up – under a minute.
  • Once you’re ready to stack your tostada up, I start with my adding some salsa and spreading it on the warm tostada.
  • Then add a couple scoops of your cooked, seasoned meat on top of the spread salsa.
  • Add some black beans.
  • Add the desired amount of cheese – I add a lot!
  • Heat your tostada up again with everything you’ve just stacked on it. Just to warm the beans a bit and melt the cheese.
  • Now you’re ready for the cool bunch of shredded lettuce. I love the taste of the combination of the hot ingredients with the cold lettuce.
  • Next, on top I’ve added a bit more salsa before or just top with a slice or two of your tomato.
  • Last, add that Taco Bell sauce! I buy the bottles from Walmart, but my husband also saves his little packets from when he goes to Taco Bell lol. We do about the amount of two packets per tostada.

Pair this with a chilled Mexican soda and dinner is made!

I started liking tostadas after having them at this hole-in-the-wall place in North Hollywood when I lived there. Henry’s Tacos! Their tostadas are amazing, but you cannot forget to add their hot sauce on top! There’s no hot sauce like it *drool* – so make these, but if you’re in Noho go to Henry’s Tacos too! Lol a little bonus recommendation 🙂

Bon Appétit!
